I recently read an article about how people in Japan stay healthy (and youthful) by exercising in subzero temperatures. Apparently, this is because their bodies adjust to the cold temperature and create extra “fungolas” (energy) which helps them burn off calories more efficiently.
Well, I don’t know about all that, but I do know the cold weather makes me more efficient when it comes to working out. Whenever I go running or biking in colder weather, I tend to work out harder for a longer period of time. Maybe it’s the same with you.
Whatever the case may be, I’ve started using a little trick to help me exercise in colder weather… and it really works! What I do is, I put on a pair of sweatpants, a sweatshirt, my gloves and a hat… and then… I put a heavy coat over everything. This way, not only do I stay warm, I also remain extremely comfortable.
Not only that, it actually makes exercising outside a lot more fun. You see, when you are wearing so many layers, it feels sort of like you are playing dress up. It’s like you are going to a party in your “Fancy Sweatpants”. It makes working out fun again… which… in turn, makes you want to continue doing it!
