Pound for pound, muscle burns more calories than fat. That’s why most people who want to lose weight find it much easier to burn off calories from fat rather than muscle. However, most people don’t realize that the best way to burn off body fat is by building more muscle. In fact, there is a direct correlation between lean muscle mass and total body fat percentage. The more lean muscle you have, the lower your body fat percentage will be.
There are many people who have extremely low body fat percentages yet they have very high amounts of muscle mass. This is because they have an extremely high level of training and exercise. These people often have an almost impossible time trying to lose body fat. On the other hand, there are many people who have very high amounts of body fat but very low levels of muscle mass. This is due to a lack of training and exercise. These people have a very easy time losing body fat.
The bottom line is this: If you want to burn off body fat, you need to build up your level of lean muscle mass. This can be easily done by performing regular weight-bearing exercises. Studies show that you will gain more muscle by doing more reps per set than by increasing the weight you use during your sets. In other words, you should do more reps than you do weights. For example, if you are currently doing 8 reps per set of a particular exercise, you should increase the number of reps you do to 12 or 15.
So, how many reps should you do per set? Well, that really depends on your goals. If your primary goal is to get in shape and to have a little bit of a buff, then you might want to start with 3 to 5 sets of 8 to 12 reps per workout. On the other hand, if your goal is to get extremely lean and shredded, then you might want to start with 6 to 8 sets of 2 to 3 reps. It’s up to you. Just keep in mind that the higher the number of reps you do per set, the more muscle you will build. The more muscle you have, the lower your body fat percentage will be. This means you will look leaner and have more muscle definition. This will be an extremely appealing attribute to women.
You see, most women are attracted to men with high levels of lean muscle mass. Women with extremely low levels of body fat often look sickly thin and almost emaciated. They often have almost no muscle definition whatsoever. On the other hand, women with high amounts of body fat but with very little or no lean muscle mass have a much harder time getting a man. These women tend to be extremely overweight with almost no curves or feminine appeal whatsoever. In fact, many of these women are so fat that they have a “marshmallow” appearance.
So, how do you know if you are lean enough? Well, there’s no real scientific way to determine this. However, one thing you can do is measure your body fat percentage. You can do this by having your doctor take a few vials of your blood and have them analyzed. Another thing you can do is go to your local drug store and buy a body fat percentage test kit. Do not rely on these kits for an exact measurement. However, these kits will give you an idea of where you stand. If you have very high levels of body fat (over 40% body fat), then you need to start working out hard. On the other hand, if you have very low levels of body fat (below 30% body fat), then you are probably at the point where you can start to work out moderately.
Whatever your goal is, just remember that the higher the number of reps you do per set, the more lean muscle mass you will build. And the more lean muscle mass you have, the lower your body fat percentage will be. This means you will look leaner and have more muscle definition. This will be an extremely appealing attribute to women.
